NEW BLOG!!

...geez, and NOW the editing I did on THIS blog takes effect. Ah well.

I have a new blog now. Goes a bit better than this one, as this one's had its own share of, erm, drama. I think the new one will have a slightly better edge than this one. But, that's just me and my opinion.

Anywho, anyone that's been reading, CHANGE YOUR BOOKMARKS!!

New blog: http://excelsiosskc.blogspot.com/

Read on and enjoy. This blog's been surreal. :-)

~ Chapter 12: Whims within the Small-Town Order... ~

Currently playing: Riton Re-Rub remix of 'Krafty' by New Order.

Well... the Small-Town Order's got a bit of whimsical humor planned for the week. Well, not really, but anywho. I'm getting ready for the 4th of July. Problem is, I have no plans. *insert eyeroll* So...

*glances around* Eh, sweetie, if you're reading this, got any ideas?? *shakes her head*

Meanwhile, today is Canada Day, so a shout-out to my friends in Canada [like Nicos who's the webmaster of NewOrderOnline.com (NOOL for short) and Margaret (who sent me some pics of New Order, and a poster is on its way this Tuesday!!] who are reading this. A hundred and forty years... whoa. That's... that's good. :-) No joke.

In other news, I made four new mixes for Barb [my store manager whom I converted to New Order, might as well count her into the Small-Town Order], one of them full of '80-'82 New Order music. The next two is basically a 27-year history in two discs, consisting of the Order's finest music. The final disc is my favorite remixes for her to learn about! I just hope she likes them lots.

Finally, major cheers and Kudos--the Gators had a huge jump-through for the NBA Draft! Three Gators within the first 10 Draft Picks!! W00t!!

Kinda makes me glad I'm both a Gator AND a Hatter. Yes, I do show some small-town love for my local university. ;-) I have a Hatters jersey. And a Gators jersey.

And if you don't like either of them, there's only one thing you can do about it...

kiss my pretty goth hiney. :-*

Have a nice day. Until the next round...

Alrighty then, I guess I shouldn't stop the blogfest here then. I don't know.

10] Regret [Tocadisco remix]

...yes, I am now including the Top 10 Remixes, because they deserve a countdown all their own, damnit!

I guess I'll keep this update short, since my friend BIGINOIL thinks I've gotten bored with my blog. Boy is he wrong. Sooo wrong.

+ Yes, I am with Michael, relationship wise. It's official. Those of you chasing after me can go fook off now.

+ The stuff I had my friend Steve [at the local music store] order, well, they STILL haven't arrived yet. Which means I'm still waiting for the New Order Peel sessions and String Quartet Tribute to JD/NO to arrive! Though surprisingly he got for me the c.d. maxi singles Krafty and Jetstream, so that's not a waste! Plus, they're good songs, with good remixes, so it's all good. Found a favorite in the Glimmers 12" extended mix!! Ace stuff.

+ I had stuff coming in the mail from two fellow NOOLers, and I'm still waiting for them. The mail squadron must really love me enough to fook up as to where the hell the packages are!! As soon as they come in, it'll be a New Order Christmas. Oh. Fookin'. Joy.

+ And finally, for now, I'm actually gonna make a third 80's mix... though tonight I'm not posting the first two mix track listings, 'cause I've got better things to do. Like cause some good mudslinging in this rather strange thread right here. Among other things. Oh, and actually construct the third mix.

...alright, enough BS. Let's go out and have some fun, freaks!!!

[lost in benidorm... well, not really...]

[And to update THAT post, I did get one of the packages today--my friend Missy's package which was pictures of New Order!! :-) Oh joy!!]

~ Chapter 8: 'We're here to stay...' [Or so we thought...] ~

~ Currently listening to 'Crystal' by New Order. ~

~ Well... it's the end of a glorious reign for a band whose music will for evermore stand the test of time. As of last week, New Order officially split. It's kinda sad, really. Probably the greatest of musical heroes... and they had to break up. *sigh*

Anywho, my prayers go out to Barney, Hooky, Steve *EEE!!! I STILL WUV YOOUUU!!!*, Gillian and Phil for their future endevors.

I guess that's it for now... except for this:

~ Chapter 7: 'Now I know the perfect kiss is the kiss of death!' ~

Okay, you must be wondering, what the Helen of Troy are you listening to, Sunny!? Well, today it's the live recording taken at the video shoot of the greatest video ever made, 'The Perfect Kiss' by New Order [ranked up with 'Transmission' by Joy Division as my favorite song of all time]. If you've never seen it, hunt it down on YouTube and see it, dangit!!! It's an amazing video, and a wonderful song too. Great stuff!

So I guess you can say that tonight's post is all about FAC123, which is the Factory Records Catalogue number for the single. It's an awesome song, really. The video, directed by Jonathan Dunne [or is it Donne?? it's definitely one of the two!!], is just amazing. I won't kill the details.

All in all, go see the video. 'Cause I said so!

~ Chapter 6: Closer to a Joy Unknown... ~

~ Alrighteh, I guess it's safe to say I have three blogs that I maintain on a day-to-day basis. One of them is on MySpace, another is on NOOL [New Order Online], and this one [even though this one came before the NOOL one]. I'm gonna try to maintain this one as much as I can. Though I will admit: I did get to tweak it up a bit today, so this is the SKC, Version 3, as of March 2007. [That's why you see Version 3/March/2007 up below the Excelsios SKC bit.]

In other quirky news, this year is, as any Joy Division and New Order fan will cheer, the year of Joy Division. Quite a bit is going on this year--

--Joy Division's 30th Anniversary
--The 27th Anniversary of Ian Curtis' death
--Ian's 52nd Birthday
--Joy Division's albums Unknown Pleasures, Closer, and Still being remastered and released
--New Order's 27th Anniversary
--David Nolan's new book bio on Bernard Sumner
--The biopic about Ian, 'Control', being released this September

Quite a big year to be a Joy Division/New Order fan. These are exciting times.

Now I'm sure someone's bound to ask, Why the h*ll do you like to listen to such a depressing group of bores!? Well, allow me to explain myself, please.

For one, their music speaks out to everybody in some form or fashion, in my opinion. Their music helped me survive my depression when life seemed at its bleakest. Ian Curtis, the late genius and lead singer of Joy Division, inspired me to write poetry again that no longer hid behind any sort of curtains whatsoever. He wrote from the heart, and what he wrote was raw.

So this is permanent, love's shattered pride.
What once was innocent turns on its side.
A cloud hangs over me, marks every move
Deep within the memory of what once was love.

['Twenty Four Hours', from the album Closer]

If you ever listen to a Joy Division song, and the bass is what strikes you best, then that would proudly belong to the genius that is Peter Hook [or 'Hooky']. Hooky kicks serious a*s on the bass, playing it as if it was a guitar on a good slew of the songs. It can even set the mood for a song too. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, you are seriously missing out.

But one of the best things about the band even is, and I'm saying this from a fangirl's perspective, the rather adorable drummer that is Stephen Morris. That man has been beating the hoohaw out of drumsets since the forming of Joy Division, and just as I think that in bass playing Hooky is god, so is Stephen when it comes to drumming. Listen to many different Joy Division songs, and you'll be d*mn surprised as to what sort of beats this man can come up with. And if you listen to some early New Order also, the man is just pure drumming genius. Even with a drum machine!

And, out of the three surviving members, he's the best-looking of the bunch. He's cute. *grin*

~ 'Sunshine'
*EDITING: It's not 'Substance' being remastered. It's 'Still', which was released in 1981, after Ian Curtis' suicide in 1980.*

~ Chapter 4: A small little random ranting. ~

[Currently listening to 'Ceremony' by New Order.]

~ Alright, usually I don't do rantings, as there are many good things in my life to be thankful for, but let's allow me some b*tching room, 'k?

For one, I am now over this unlikely, inconstant thing called 'men'. I can safely say that, after going through many a drama with rejections and feeling like as if I'm probably nothing more than a possible sex toy from hell waiting to happen to many men I've faced in recent times, men are nothing more than hounds. B*st*rds if you will. In any case, hopeless snots. And I can find lots more to call them.

With the exception of my few close best guy buddies, of course. But that's besides the point.

I am also a bit peeved that there are many guys that apparently look out for the 'prettier' sort of gals. Geez, like I'm just some piece of a*s that ain't cute! For once, people, try not to focus on appearance so much and open your mind.

Of course, no one really listens much to that advice. So the men look for the sexiest pieces of a*s to hang around.

You can tell that, this is me in a very bad mood.

If ever there was a guy that tried to get me to go to bed with him, and he was particularly creepy in appearance, or if he thought I was just some hot little whore, or if he even tries to ask me out nowadays, I can only respond as such, the last two lines from New Order's wonderful song that is 'Your Silent Face'--

'You've caught me at a bad time
So why don't you piss off?'

...there. I think that, for the moment, I feel much better now. ~

~ 'Sunshine'

'Sunshine'

//SKC: Chapter 1--Aside from MySpace...//

//Alright folks, I don't usually do blogging outside of MySpace, but since there's bound to be more than one ocassion, I'll do a copy-and-paste thingie. However [comma] since this is a new environment, I better get everyone introduced and myself intro'd.

My name's Jennifer, codename Sunshine, and sometimes nicknamed Sunny.

The following 411 is from my MySpace profile. Pay attention, 'cause you WILL need this if you want to follow along.

*waits for the profile to load up and stuff.*

On the basis of, well, me: Okay, these are the basics.
+Real name/Jennifer.
+Nicknames/Sunshine, Sunny, StarKnight [or StarKnight Captain], Jenn, Jenny, Reckoning [new nickname I gave myself--based on a line from a Bloc Party song].
+Birthday/October 4.
+Favorite colors/Blue, black, silver, purple, red, yellow, and in some cases white and pink.
+Main power [if anything else]/Love, sacrifice, and prayer.
+Favorite sports: Soccer and volleyball.
+Favorite stuff never to leave the house without/Cell phone, ChapStick, lip gloss, car keys, glasses [I'm nearsighted and can't drive without 'em], work cap and nametag [if I have to work], iPod [or c.d. player, or both!], and up to 3 bracelets and about 5 or 6 necklaces--depending on what's going on or where I'm going or both.

On the drama of that d*mn thorn in my side that is love: Love is my friend, love is my enemy, love is my strength, love is my weakness. My heart is large enough to fit everyone I know and love. My heart is also small enough to consume hatred... though that's a rarity.
+Relationship status/Single, and crushing on someone. Tryin' to talk to him.
+Favorite guy pals/Pouncer, Revolver, Ani, and yeah, the little brat that is Scion too. *insert both sigh and eyeroll* ~[Yeah, okay, so I'm a tomboy!]

On my being a witness [and I don't mean Jehova's Witness, folks!]: Coming to terms with life as we all know it is anything but easy. The Lord is my Strength and Song, but it's not like I carry a Bible everywhere I go or go preaching until my dying day. My witness, my testimony, is my faith and how I'm actually able to stay alive for my Lord--I went through depression and almost killed myself twice. I have a few scars to show the pain too.
+Favorite hymns/'Great is Thy Faithfulness', 'Lift High the Cross', 'Love Divine, All Loves Excelling', 'Holy, Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty'
+Current faith/Methodist, Episcopalian-in-Training.

Among other things: Aside of the fact that I like a lot of interesting bands, and aside from the fact that I love to sing like there's no tomorrow, I am also a poet. (Yes, I write poetry, got a problem?) Some of the poetry is posted on my MySpace Blog; I suggest you check out the poetry I've done so far. They're all whimsical, interesting, and--if anything else--fun. And worth the spilling of the heart.
+Favorite poems/ 'The Raven' by Edgar Allen Poe, 'She Walks In Beauty, Like The Night' by Lord Byron
+Favorite poets [and songwriters that fall into that catagory]/Maya Angelou, Shel Silverstein, the aforementioned Poe and Byron, Ian Curtis [R.I.P.], Johnny Cash [R.I.P.], the Gallagher brothers Noel and Liam [of Oasis], Dan Wilson [of Semisonic], Chantal Kreviazuk, and Lisa Loeb.

And finally, the self-analysis... whatever that is: In a nutshell, I'm sweet and simple, yet hectic and complicated, ordinary yet anything but normal. Which is just great! So long live life's chaos... or whimsey... or whatever we all call this these days. I suppose life's a bit sweeter when it's not ordinary, right? ...maybe I should just stop rambling... heh...

Some rather infamous quotes or things I say at times...
+Hold that thought.
+What the Helen of Troy... [Thank you, Beastie Boys!!!]
+The Moral of the story: You screw with fire, you get burned. You screw with me, you get incinerated. Any questions? [from my MySpace Blog, Chapter 215, 7/25/2006]
+There has to be forgiveness, ladies and gentlemen. And it has to be genuine and sincere. And it has to start from within. [from my MySpace Blog, Chapter 228, 8/8/2006]
+Meanwhile [comma]...
+GAH!!!

...The parts I italicized are recent add-ons not yet on the Profile. *grin*

Now, what I usually do in my MySpace blog is, I have nowadays a Chapter # and name of Chapter for the title, and the first thing I usually post for the day is the Songs of the Day, which consists of, usually, two songs: one from Bloc Party [my f-a-v-o-r-i-t-e rock band], and one from a band or someone non-Bloc Party. Then I get to what's on my mind, which is usually the chaos of the day, and I add my view to it. At the end I post the moral of the story, and close with a benediction of sorts.

Now since this is the introduction and all, I might as well get everyone in the know about the cast of characters, usually with codenames:

+The narrator, Jennifer, 'Sunshine', 'The Reckoning', it's all me. 'Nuff said.
+Pouncer [or Randall]: my best friend and ex-fiancee. He's one of a kind. I thank God for him!
+Revolver [Ozzie]: one of my recently-met friends. He's a tattoo artist apprentice, and yes. He can draw!!
+Kaleidoscope [Donny]: lead singer of my favorite local rock band Evongale. One of my new friends too. [I kinda have a crush on both him and Revolver. *blushes in embarrassment*]
+Scion [Fritz]: one of my friends, and a former enemy. He liked me for a very long time now...

For the rest of my friends, you might as well check out http://www.myspace.com/starknight_sunshine at the area of the profile which mentions the StarKnights, StarBands and StarFriends. Yep, the Stellar Handful. They're all my friends and among the nearest and dearest to me. You don't wanna mess with 'em.

In fact, so that everyone gets to know me a bit better, this blog's Chapter 2 is going to be about silly Miss Me, in the form of surveys and whatnot that I've taken in the past, and that I'm updating for the here and now.

The StarKnight Chronicles for blogspot have now begun. Are you ready?

[No view or moral this time since you're all newbies and that's fine with me. *grin*]
